Many many years ago I was in high school and just hoped on the maplestory train. Of course I was a complete newb and didn’t realize you could screw up your character.
This was back when you had to roll a virtual dice to determine your starting stats. This was also back when you can screw up your character if you over level the character before getting a job because you only earn skill point after you get the job.
I ended up having to remake my account like 5 times due to some combination of:
Unoptimal starting stats for what class I wanted.
Missing the job advancement by a level.
Unoptimal skill point spending.
By the time I was about to create the character I would end up playing on for 3 years, I couldn’t be arsed to think of a good name. So yeah…
I remember finding out WAY too late into Maplestory that you have to basically know how to distribute stats from the get-go, because there was no going back. when you hit level milestones the game expects you to have a near-perfect stat distribution to buy level-appropriate gear, and when the game is as grindy as oldschool Maplestory every level you had to spend past that milestone adjusting for the imperfect stats was a SLOG. I think the first 5 levels after every milestone my first character spent with the previous milestone’s equipment because i was just too stubborn to make a new character and start over
