I would gladly embrace shitty young ones over old ones. At least the younger ones are thinking about the future.

It’s not like Trump is some mastermind coming up with all these ideas on his own, and Miller isn’t likable enough to get elected.

But Trump gives me Steven Miller. Whereas on the other hand I don’t think Steven Miller comes with Trump attached. Nor is he capable of actually winning anything.

On the one hand I disagree & think that there are tangible differences between major parties (granted not as big as we would like).
On the other hand - Douglas Adams.

Yeah like both Trump and Biden won in big competitive primaries with a lot of candidates younger than them. I think part of the reason we have so many old politicians is that young candidates feel more like positively asserting the future of their party, and nobody really likes the futures they’re asserting. Without that vision, the status quo wins out by default.

I honestly think seeing Trump win killed him. His wife dying probably played a larger role, but I don’t think seeing the country go down the toilet did nothing to him, and the election was the killing blow. The cancer was irrelevant, he already survived that like three times.

that is how you ordinarily behave when you lose an election. in the face of fascism i’d expect different behavior but should they have been able to put everything together the way we did? i want to answer yes but i don’t know what things looked like from inside their heads. for example if i have four or five more days at the stress level i’m carrying right now, i am going to need one hell of a salsa bar to work through some things before i can even think again.
