Chucke2008
I think was the channel name. He showed welding and fabrication, one day he was reading something weird on video Idk and got canceled.
There was a van life de-influencer called Dave2D (not the computer one) who lived in a van and demonstrated the harsh realities of living full time in a van, while also mocking and exposing van life influencers who made it look glamorous, and called out those who were obviously just living in a house and pretending to be living in vans for the insta. He regularly made fun of those vanlife couples, especially when they inevitably broke up, until a very famous recently single vanfluencer killed herself after enduring lots of harrassment by his followers, and then Dave2Ddeleted almost all his videos.
Then he moved into a car with a puppy in LA and someone stole his catalytic converter while he was sleeping in the car, then he moved to a tiny cabin in Montana and transitioned to painting on Livestream, and now as far as I know he has no presence on YouTube.
I don’t know a single one of the YouTubers being mentioned here.
It’s so crazy that 10 million subscribers is huge by YouTube standards but practically meaningless in the larger context.
Oh thank goodness. Thought it was just me.
Youtube is pretty horrid now so I tend to stay away. Seems like its mostly made for ipad babies and boomers now.

Charlie Kirk?
He only fell a couple of feet.
+/-6’
He shifted left at the end

I didn’t make it, and also do not use AI, but this is one I had to save.

Tolerance and respect for only those who agree with me
Get outta here fascist boot licker
Lmao proving my point in both comments exactly. Paradox of tolerance full on display. Disagreement = name calling, slurs, bigotry. Never once an actual argument, just name calling always.
Lil bro doesnt even understand what the paradox of tolerance is 🥲
Who?
Illuminaughtii was pretty wild.
JonTron said all that Great Replacement Theory racist shit but collab’d with Internet Historian on his B channel some time after. Haven’t followed him in a long time so I donno if his career suffered.
Onision is nuts in so many dark and strange ways that were completely predictable.
Among them all I’m so glad that Internet Comment Etiquette has always been my favorite. Eric is a good boy.
Edit: Erik with a K is a good boy.
King of the Internet king of the pipe
there´s plenty of leads that make people think internet historian is not clean either. putting “1488” and “88” dogwhistles in his videos aswell as crudely drawn swastikas or stars of david in inconvenient places. he follows questionable far-right people on twitter and in the “bikelock fugitive” video he just goes with the 4chan story.
And not to mention they were one of the other receivers of Hbomberguy’s famous plagarism video.
that’s just a judgement on his content and doesn’t give insight on his probably far right political stance
Fair enough. I don’t seek out YouTube drama so I don’t know anything not sent my way, but the JonTron thing left a bad enough taste I stopped following him.
I had no idea about the other shit, but it kinda makes sense given the tone of his videos regarding SJWs, women, tumblr, etc.
good approach :) more peace of mind.
Who the hell is Eric? Did Erik get replaced for what he did to Narfy?

What was he supposed to do? He was out of mana!
I know there was something fishy about that guy when I first saw him popping up in my shorts (that’s what she said), but I didn’t know it was as bad as it was.
Wait did something actually happen? I just remember people finally realizing he’s generally just a shitty person.
Well he turned out to be a lazy, lying, emotionally abusive, manipulative furry that uses his love interests for money, if that tells you something. Plenty of YouTube documentaries of comfortable length on the subject if you’re interested. It was quite enlightening. Absolutely disgusting human being, IMO. Instantly unsubscribed (again) when I saw these documentaries.
I had previously unsubbed from him because all his shorts of him acting like this overconfident life guru while live streaming got pretty old pretty quick. It became fake. Then I gave him another chance. I shouldn’t have done so.
Jesus Christ. Somehow not even surprising.
You know what I mean? I feel like I can’t have any idols anymore these days. Not that he was, but still.
I guess there’s some weight to the whole “thou shalt not worship false idols”. It’s pretty good advice.
Onision had a pretty spectacular implosion, but he was always a pretty wild and controversial figure. Shane Dawson was another pretty massive one. Miranda Sings was also huge, then all the weird and creepy chats and stage moments came out, sank her whole brand.
takes out the ukalele Now friends, let’s sing a little song…
I love how she starts off by saying her legal team recommended she not do that…then proceeds to do it anyways lol.
“My doctor said shooting my foot off would be a bad idea, but chat… cocks shotgun we’re going to find out.”
Boogie2988
Is that the fat video game nerd?
Yes but his weight and health has improved a lot
I was never a fan, but I did a search in him about a year lord and good lord he’s a mess.
Without looking it up: did he become his stereotype shitty gamer character?
Arguably worse. Tl;dw he chooses to live like he’ll die at any moment, i.e. spends all his money on dumb things, but then complains about not having money and his audience not giving him enough. He also abused his wife until she left him, then started dating a 20 year old (hes in his mid 50s as a reminder). Oh he also completely reversed course on his nice moderate guy persona.
It’s pretty niche, but Mike Israetel of Renaissance Periodization is one of the biggest fitness youtubers who for years has thrown his phd around to become an authority on sports science. A critical review of his joke of a phd thesis was recently published and now it’s pure chaos in this sphere
Really? Fuck. Well, guess that leaves Jeff Nippard and LeanBeefPatty as still solid, hopefully. Been away from the lifting world but that sucks about Mike.
Jeff and a few other influencers came out immediately attacking the reviewer, it’s been wild seeing them circle the wagons. Mike claimed it was an old draft of the thesis, and produced an updated (doctored) version, which turned out to be fake and he then admitted that Solomon had in fact reviewed the final version. Assuming the university had threatened Mike. Solomon then released a video about his dealings with Jeff Nippard which also casts Jeff in a bad light. Generally disappointing all around
For some reason, I always thought his main contribution from his PhD was the volume thresholds for maintenance and adaptation.
In any case, are we judging his value as a researcher or as a YouTuber? If it’s the former, I’d rather look at his publishing history rather than a thesis. Soloman mentioned that the school he graduated from wasn’t a particularly high ranking school, and that’s evidenced by how they were able to let this pass. Knowing how your school works, why would you put any effort at all into what is essentially just a formality for graduation? Where I went for grad school, the examiners will read your work properly, but most people still only put in the minimal effort for it. Our efforts mostly go into papers that actually get read. Your thesis is never expected to see the light of day again after graduation.
If we’re judging him for his value as a YouTuber, then we should be judging his YouTube content. As far as that goes, he’s pretty much just preaching the same thing as every other fitness YouTuber. It’s just packaged differently. The one thing he does that stands out from others is explaining how science and the scientific method works when putting exercise science papers into context. I can understand his credentials being relevant here if you’re a non-expert, but as a scientist myself, I can vouch for the soundness of his explanations.
Jeff’s response was definitely disappointing though. Insulting Soloman does not align with the wholesome character of him that was painted in my head.
The Completionist. Socials went private and any videos finished but unreleased had the artwork changed so it wasn’t obviously from the channel.
Some others that came to mind is ProJared with the sexts, but he eventually defended his side and continues to post new videos, and the controversy from the Nostalgia Critic group during the ChangeTheChannel campaign
Oof, watching The Completionist’s fall was an emotional rollercoaster. I liked the guy well enough and he seemed to be doing well right up until that unfortunate G4TV reboot.
Attached to the new G4TV was one Frosk, an e-sports commentator who was opinionated as all hell and boy, she would NOT let you forget it. Long story short, apropos of nothing, she had a spectacular meltdown on the channel and she did so by blaming fans for all kinds of things. The Completionist, along with all other members of the channel took a hit in subscribers on G$ and their respective channels simply through the virtue of being affiliated with Frosk. Not really their fault.
But THEN in 2023 it came to light that he was lying about donations to charity and really, that’s when I stopped following him completely. Kind of hard to defend that.
For sure. Boogie2988 has had a pretty spectacular fall as well.
Not a vlogger, but CarlH was a respected reddit user who had a long and successful series of C programming lessons on youtube. I remember going through some of his videos back in the day.
He was arrested for abusing and exploiting his own son for child pornography, and later commited suicide in jail. I guess you can’t fall much harder.
One of the many reddit posts about the story: https://www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/comments/upkjb7/carl_h_once_made_a_following_for_himself_online/
SkyDoesMinecraft was pretty bad, and it just kept. Getting. Worse.
What happened? “Their” Wikipedia page doesn’t say anything past “abuse” and them having bulimia.
Wow, every written place looks very sanitized IMO. Most youtubers I’ve seen that worked with him will put on a very awkward face and not talk about him if hes mentioned in like a stream donation or somethinf

Seems like a good place to start
Probably pewdiepie. He was very popular before the incident, after which noone wanted to touch him. His Scare Pewdiepie show also got canceled. He has regained popularity again though.
What incident? People started sharing his videos because he’s cool now, I guess, I can’t even listen to his voice
In September 2017, while PewDiePie was live-streaming gameplay of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds to his YouTube channel, he used the racial N-word towards another player in the game.
As a fellow swede, I can understand why this was particularly rough for him, as he most likely used it just like many of us used English curse words and slurs very casually when we were young. They weren’t words we understood, or knew the history of, and parents/teachers didn’t really stop us or teach us when we heard them. We knew they were said in media, on TV and in movies, so we picked it up without much regard for meaning.
So for him to slip out an N-word is unfortunate, but definitely doesn’t make me think he’s racist or anything. Just like my friends and I who grew up using bad words like this, but we all grew up to be progressive and accepting of everyone. It doesn’t have to reflect anything within PDP himself, even though it’s highly offensive to the audience hearing it.
Just very unfortunate for everyone involved.
i generally agree, as a european i also said dumb shit because i lack the cultural knowledge WHY certain words are problematic. but pewdiepie was always kind of close to some weird folk. we all probably forgot about the meme review with ben shapiro and elon musk - that was before the “bridge incident” - there was also the t-series stuff which started out as a funny thing in good faith but it normalized racism. his song “removed lasagna” starts with “bobs or vegana, whatever will it be?” and includes lines like “hold your defecation”
I mean you could see him recognize that he fucked up in real time. He definitely knew better. It was the ensuing “heated gamer moment” excuse which really made it a meme. He should have just immediately and unambiguously acknowledged that he fucked up and taken real action to show remorse. This is a pretty common pattern with this kind of thing. You can’t do the whole “soft apology with a side of justification” and expect things to go back to normal. And this is just a life lesson in general - when you fuck up, you need to really lean into making a change.
you could see him recognize that he fucked up in real time.
He knew it was a bad word though. That’s to his credit given the circumstances, IMO.
He should have just immediately and unambiguously acknowledged that he fucked up and taken real action to show remorse. This is a pretty common pattern with this kind of thing.
Maybe it’s a common pattern because people go into shock after they realize they fucked up? Not everyone is calm, cool, and collected when they realize they made a mistake.
I lived with an embarrassment for two decades before I apologized to a mate of mine. And that wasn’t even my fault. I was set up into embarrassing myself (by proxy of embarrassing my mate). Either way, being embarrassed can definitely put you in a sort of deer in headlights mode and continue like nothing happened while you try to assess.
I agree, when I was younger we would use worse words and, although I understand better now how they will be received, I could swear there was never any value associated with them back then. They were just descriptive words in the same way one would call a spade a spade - whether the spade is good or bad depends on the spade.
Right. It’s just kids being kids. Imitating adults.
And I’m betting him playing games would jolt him back to his child brain in some way, too. Making it even more likely to have something like that slip out, when I’m normal conversation you would obviously never hear him (or us) say something like that (I’d have to assume).
I sometimes let out some sexual organ slurs, which are pretty bad in my language, when I’m playing games, but it’s just because playing games is something I’ve done since childhood, and it can bring those words out, from those times. It’s more controlled now, since I’m well into adulthood now and I only let out those words to friends who can tolerate them. Not to my family.
So yeah. I know why something like this can happen. It shouldn’t be career-ending from his perspective (and to some degree it wasn’t), but from the audience’s perspective, it was a whole different thing.
He’s also a product of toxic gamer culture, the N word is almost like teenagers calling things gay… doesn’t mean they hate homosexuals.
This is not to advocate for what he said at all.
Exactly. Exactly my sentiment. It was really inappropriate, but was not produced from malintent or anything like that, just an expletive, any expletive, and that happened to come out because it was the most edgy bad word that just popped up. Super bad, but, you know. 🤦♂️
I tought he was cool for that
I have seen this cycle three times already. PewdiePie basically loses popularity for a few years when his audience ages out, and then he does some reboot or marketing push or something and a new generation or children start watching again.
Ummm Pewds is doing just fine.
Now he’s a complete self hosted and Linux nerd, and it’s awsome!
Not really “a” youtuber, but i thoroughly enjoyed watching roosterteeth crash and burn. I loved their goofy shit maybe 10 or 15 years ago, but goddamn the fame really went to their heads fast. Ray and Mikey and Jack were all mostly cool, but Geoff had this really toxic “failed jock” vibe that really put down everyone else for very little reason. Then you had straight up toxic narcissists join up over the years, then Ryan shitting the bed by trying to hook up with (possibly underage) fans. It all came crashing down hard. It started out as a fun group of gamers and quickly turned into this weird hazing/bullying/im more famous than you circlejerk.
It’s a tie between EDP445 and Onision.
Honorable mention goes to Illuminaughtii.
Can’t mention illuminaughty or whatever without mentioning James Somerton.
My more bespoke pick would be Tobuscus
