Really though. It’s crazy how much high is at your fingertips these days. Back in the day you had to buy weed and usually roll it into a joint or blunt, or at the very least pack it into a bowl. And either way it was getting smoked. Maybe you had a brownie once in a while if someone you knew was making them.

It’s a consequence of weed being illegal. If you need fewer grams to get high (because it has higher THC content) you can sell less weed for the same money which makes smuggling it much more cost effective.

I’m really enjoying my vaporizer. Confusingly named because it’s very different that a vape. Basically you load real weed into it, not oil, and it heats its just enough to get you high without smoking. Feels much healthier on the lungs than a regular joint.

If anyone is looking for this, they call them “dry herb vaporizers” these days, to alleviate confusion.

        And they are good

I’ve tried a few and never had much luck, don’t seem to get proper hits. I stick with the vape carts although it’s concerning to see an increase of disposable ones making e waste, I have several rechargeable batteries at home and don’t need a new one every time

there are a lot of shitty dry herb vapes. i hate to recommend reddit, but the vaporents sub had a good list of reliable brands on their wiki. I have a couple Firewoods (my Firewood 9 is my daily driver (it has cherry wood around the vaping chamber and it smells amazing, but i am a wood dork), I use my Firewood 5 when the 9 needs maintenance which is like once a year at most) and they are both phenomenal. They are selling the Firewood 11 right now (you can get gorgeous wood covered stems i want one so much) and if i wasn’t completely satisfied with my 9 i’d be buying one. Dynavap is a good place to start if your budget is tight.

Us IT nerds at university made a makeshift vaporizer out of an end table, an air mattress compressor, a steel ashtray, a soldering iron, some sort of wire mesh, a large glass bowl, and some aquarium tubing.

Imagine coming home to your parent trying to be mad at you, while also incredibly high on your drugs.

That would be a weird experience, to say the least.

Years ago I would try to hide my pot smoking from my parents.

Now I am hiding my pot smoking from my kids.

Someday my kids will be hiding their pot smoking from me.

And my dad ended up getting into hydroponic gardening shortly after I moved out.

      The circle of life, man.

When my son was looking at colleges, we took a couple of road trips together to see schools. We’ve always been very close, and I told him my drug history, as a true cautionary tale. I didn’t tell him to not try drugs, but to deal with them responsibly.

Today, he’ll do the occasional edible, but he doesn’t like smoking at all. I definitely use way more weed than he does. He’s a lightweight, one canned margarita does him in.

Tbh, if I saw my dad absolutely fucked up after hitting my vape pen as a teenager, it would probably have rattled me enough to make me stop for a few years at least.

Gen-X here. Most of us grew up on absolute trash weed. Modern weed is incredibly clean and strong. Vapes are a distillation of that. When it’s all said and done, taking deep hits of a THC vape after only having a few puffs at a Pearl Jam concert back in 1994, might lead to regrettable consequences.

I’m from Western Canada and while our experience is very very far from the rest of NA’s…(none of our shit came from Mexico) one thing that’s definitely changed over the last few decades is the knowledge base of cannabis growers in general.

There are more cannabis specific products such as nutrient blends, pest, and environmental controls. Off the shelf products you can order online that used to be custom made or end you up on a list.

People understand pruning, topping, and branch lining. This becomes especially apparent when you compare amateur growers to intermediate and medical grade growers.

Than there’s the genetics being improved through breeding. .

But the main thing I’m told is that a lot of weed in the USA came from outdoor grows in Mexico. Which outdoor can never, ever, compete with indoor.

I didn’t know they’d been working on this shit like it’s the cure for cancer

I smoked a little when it was illegal in my state but legal in others. I made brownies. I think the new weed is just “take a hit or two” or even “share a joint with 3-4 people” and it’s fine. I love that my vapes are $30 legally and just last for months. Such a cheap drug now.

I was a good boy who didn’t do drugs until adulthood, and I have medical marijuana now. The feedback I’ve gotten from pretty much everyone who did drugs in the 90’s and 00’s vs today is the same as your experience. The “weed nerds” have spent decades in their labs and the state-by-state legalization has greatly accelerated their progress.

Even my pharmacist warned me when I first got my medical card “if this is your first time using medical marijuana it’s a lot stronger than what is usually on the street, so watch out”.

Welcome to my thoughts after my (adult) stepson gave me one of the infused joints their biodad got them for Christmas.

…well, the day after I smoked it anyway. What I actually thought during was “Well, since I’m obviously going to die tonight the beanbag chair isn’t such a bad place to do it.”

Had a conversation with my stepson afterwards where they said they were smoking very infrequently due to how it impacted their anxiety. I said “Well yeah, you’re not smoking weed, you’re smoking joints that can’t actually kill you but try their damnedest anyway. I’ve had mushroom trips that were easier on the ol’ noggin.”

I’m on my third year of growing my own weed. This years harvest was purple satellite from humbolt seeds. I use a dry herb vape and roughly consume 0.15g to 0.2g in a small canister. It’s almost too much. I’m a life long smoker and this shit is so strong I almost didn’t enjoy it sometimes.

I just want the tiniest hit. I don’t even want to do more than a 2mg edible unless I want to have anxiety.

Everything’s too damn potent & I have 0 tolerance. I’m trying to chill but instead I’ll just get a panic attack from hitting it too hard.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but that article is just typical fear mongering BS. It keeps the eyes of parents glued to the screen and consuming ads. Doesn’t even say what “spice” is. Articles like this are basically broiler-llate and come out every few months. Notice how they manage to blame social media, and how they don’t mention any adults using it at all.

I found the wikipedia article on these things more useful and less biased. Spice seems to mostly refer to a designer drug that is similar to THC, but is not THC. And while it is often used to lace marijuana or mixed with weed vapes, it isn’t just weed.

It’s like hearing about people adding PCP or LSD to weed and freaking out about how dangerous weed is. Like… Yeah you shouldn’t buy drugs from some random guy on Snapchat.

Yeah. Spice/synthetic full cannabinoid receptor agonists are honestly terrifying and have such dramatically different effects from legit cannabis.
