I once had a woman bicycle into me on a somewhat narrow path, I thought she saw me and was turning but she didn’t and ran right into me at a running pace.
I instinctively put out my arms to stop her, grabbed her shoulders and then realized she might fall over if I just did a brief push to stop her so I kind of lightly held her in place for a second until she stabilized herself.
It was the most harmless yet awkward accident I have ever been in.
Lol, a few weeks ago I was drinking with my buddy and his brother. My buddy said he does not like suicide jokes after I made one.
A little while passes, buddy mentions he wakes up at 5 a.m. some days. His brother responds with “5? If I had to wake up at 5 a.m. I would… not do that.”

Who says car in this phrase? It’s almost always bus, tram, or train.
yeah get on the trolley OP
But if you’re anti-car infrastructure, then you don’t want to get hit by those alternatives, because the anti-mass-transit crowd might use it to villify mass transit.
If you get hit by a car then you can become an anti-car martyr for the cause
For real. If I get hit. It better be infrastructure. Gonna go after those rich public coffers not a broke ass Nissan driver.
!My uncle got hit by city bus was he was 17. 40 years ago. He is still living off that today. Mfer owns two houses!<
Your spoiler tag syntax seems to render properly only on PieFed but not Lemmy web UI, e.g. on programming.dev. Just letting you know!
::: spoiler [SPOILER TITLE] [SPOILER CONTENTS] :::renders
[SPOILER TITLE]
[SPOILER CONTENTS]
also my lingual glands are satiated spoiler does not look like a word anymore.
this is what i do from the lemmy web interface and jerboa. seems to work
This is the official syntax and should always work.
Spoiler alert: it doesn’t:-P. There’s a bunch of old apps that never bothered to implement it, yet people still continue to use them anyway.
Sometimes you’ll see NSFW tags to accomplish the spoiler effect, on posts anyway (doesn’t work on comments beneath a post).
It’s always a tension between the things that move forward quickly vs. those that remain glacially slow or even half altogether. Like PieFed even has a separate NSFL (gore) tag to distinguish it from NSFW, and numerous options to either hide, blur, show as semi-transparent, etc., and you can pick a different rendering for each (one for NSFW but a different one for NSFL). And this on top of a plethora of features like polls, user and post flairs, hashtags, keyword filtering, user-customizable and shareable Feeds, and so much more. All of Lemmy remains behind in comparison. But even for Piefed, the vast majority of these features are not offered by the vast majority of apps available for the Threadiverse.
I suppose it’s good to have choices. But that entails people making different ones. 😁
There’s a bunch of old apps that never bothered to implement it
i mean it’s on people using out of date software when it doesn’t SYNTAX ERROR REINSTALL COMMENT
Yeah, but I don’t think the person wishing “I hope I get hit by a bus” – unqualified – is wishing that they somehow survive and get lawsuit money. I mean maybe if you take the “survive” part out and still assume it’s the operator’s fault, the lawsuit money could go to the estate…

I definitely do… maybe it’s because we don’t have busses, trams, or trains here where I live. Just cars and oversized trucks.
Buses, trams, and trains in their great efficiency would also be more efficient at traumatizing more people. And cars are by far the most likely thing to randomly hit you out of nowhere while still having the capacity to easily kill.
I think “car” is reasonably common; I’ve definitely at least heard it a few times before.

Bus?
And if a double-decker bus crashes into us
To die by your side is such a heavenly way to die
Unsupervised 8 year old on a class III ebike
Cargo bike?
How can you be anti-car and forget about trains?
How about getting hit by a car which starts a chain reaction to actually build a car-less society?
