tried playing call of duty zombies becausr hakim liked it. ended up spending so many hours shooting nazi zombies (this is a hint on an upcoming post when i come back home! any questions about “what cod did you play” will be answered there! i tried black ops 2 but i generally don’t like cod. the fact that it’s funded by the us army doesn’t help!)
i played a ton of beta minecraft. yes, i know about better than adventure. yes, i know and use beta unleashed. i built a castle yesterday.
to be honest, i didn’t play much as i focused more of my time on exams
my favorite genre is still sandboxes. i played beta minecraft for half an hour trying to make a statue and many hours on a barn (tree farm!) and a castle. juggling blocks in my inventory has never been this easy and this fun
i am looking forward to more homebrew on older consoles. the ps3 recently got gamemaker games like undertale, sonic mania is fully playable and minecraft b1.7.3 is partially playable on the wii. i want MORE. if i knew how, i’d port an underrated indie game (and a friend of mine’s favorite game) known as “aquaria” to the ps3, it already has a switch port and a psp port, why not the ps3?

jokes aside, the only consoles i have are the ps3 and the wii. if it can be emulated and jailbroken, and it will, would be really neat. nintendo dmca-ing emulators kinda made this hard
Revisited Planet Crafter recently, love it. However, once I take a break from it, I can’t really get back in, because I have to acclimate to that style of uh, camera control? I really easily get dizzy/disoriented with similar 1st person POV games, not sure why but having your character model on screen has always reduced or eliminated that effect on me. I guess that’s my one gripe, I really wish Planet Crafter (or even Subnautica, another big fav of mine but can’t replay it much for same disorientation reasons) had a third-person player model, even as an option.
Anyway, been on a break from video games since then, aside from occasional “social hours” dota. Looking forward to any more news from The Bustling World, hopefully we’ll be able to play it this year? fingers crossed
edit: don’t really pay attention to console games unless interested enough to look into emulators, hehe. sorry switch
I was never really able to get into planet crafter. It feels too empty and like I’m just waiting around for the stats to build up. What tips would you give?

Tbh, I think Switch 2 will definitely be an emulation powerhouse.
I’m playing Advance Wars and I also started Disco Elysium. Damn, if I wasn’t doing my thesis I’d play that all day long. I had finished the Zelda Oracle games and they were alright, Oracle of Seasons was definitely a lot easier than Ages
Yeah, the Oracle games are more famous than good.
No gaming for me because school has started and this semester has been nightmarish lol. I did buy a steam deck for myself tho so thats nice.
Edit: I do not feel super strongly about the Switch 2.
Steam Deck is a good purchase and hopefully you’ll have the time to use it eventually.
Squad 44, Project Zomboid (b42) and Motor Town: Behind The Wheel, which is a MMO south korean logisitics/car game, really cool.
A couple weeks ago I was having a hard time finding things to play. I went back to Kenshi and Rimworld for a bit but they weren’t really doing it for me.
Then I got an emulator working for Breath of the Wild. Its pretty awesome. Its the spiritual successor to Daggerfall in that it has awesome climbing mechanics. I am really impressed by the openness of the world and the puzzles are really well designed so that sometimes I am not sure if I am solving it the way they intended or making up a work around. There were a couple spots where I had to spoof the motion controls through my mouse which was not great but otherwise everything has been working really smoothly. So now I’m looking at more wiiu games to emulate and I’ve got Skyward sword waiting for me.
I dont really care about switch 2. I haven’t had a console since the wii but I do look forward to the next installments of the Zelda franchise. PCs may be superior to consoles but I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for exclusive IP like Zelda, Metroid, and Sonic. (Mario is ok but he gets involved in too many dubious pursuits)
Daggerfall, my beloved…
I just picked up Heart of the Machine. It’s a turn-based RPG/4X/city builder (which apparently also includes multiversal time travel) in early access. You play as a rogue AI trying to survive in a dystopian cyberpunk city. If that sounds insanely ambitious, that’s because it is, especially for a solo dev. I played the (surprisingly full featured) demo and got immediately hooked. The different systems seem to tie together surprisingly well; the RPG elements provide a bit of drive to engage with the strategy side, and choices influence how you build out your tech tree. Probably not for everyone but the demo is free and worth checking out if it sounds interesting to you.

Haven’t been playing a whole lot of games lately because sick, but been slowly getting through Yars Rising because it happens to fall exactly within my interests, I feel like the exact target for it lol
It’s a Metroidvania from WayForward whose platforming and shooting is like Mega Man, with loads of hacking minigames that are literally Yars’ Revenge (you know, the old Atari game), playing as a cute girl with funny friends in this Japanese-inspired cyberpunk city full of Atari references (the idea is hilarious I love it) as you investigate a tech company’s shady secret
The soundtrack is a 10/10 and the girl you play as is currently one of my top fictional crushes lol, she talks too much and I never want her to shut up ❤️
It’s such a weird combination of stuff though, and it didn’t exactly get much marketing and was probably relatively low budget, so I get why it’s so overlooked currently despite being a WayForward game, especially with the genre getting so many games lately (probably not helped by Ubisoft putting out a huge budget Prince of Persia one a month earlier)
Also, I’m glad the Switch 2 is finally announced, even Nintendo games often run like total ass on the current one, hopefully this one’s size and being more round will make it at least slightly more comfortable, and hoping Switch 1 games will run more stable on it (even if target resolution/framerate stay the same without patches, I’d like games to at least keep a consistent 30)

the empire is clearly the progressive choice if you can look past the fact that it’s named the empire, but the forlorn would be the real best choice. Indigenous population that barely gets any lore explained, because of course bethesda had to fuck it up. and they still attack you even after you help them because we have to show that the only good choice is being the dragonborn and only you gets to decide who lives and who dies.

Playing signalis. Setting is interesting and some of the puzzles are good but I’m not a fan of all the backtracking. I will finish it though.
Played balatro before that, basically got around 60 hours out of it before I felt really fed up with playing it. Which is not bad.
I’m enjoying playing more controller friendly games on steam deck over the competitive kind of games I pumped so many hours into before. I think after signalis I will play through the rest of hollow knight.
I don’t mind backtracking here and there, but I guess the game does too much of it.

Not looking forward to any games. I don’t follow game releases and just get games as I finish games in my library and search for other similar games, very rarelly do I buy a game that’s isn’t already a couple years old.
Not excited for the nintendo switch 2, I never owned any consoles in my life until last year my used ps4. Like it to turn on and play some bloodborne sometimes but I like my devices to be multipurpose so am much more interested in gaming handhelds like the steamdeck or just pc gaming in general.

My PC died a couple of weeks ago, taking the video card with it, and I’ve had a lot of real life drama to deal with as well. So I haven’t been playing that much. Mostly moving parts between my computers in order to create something useable.
But I spent a good chunk of time looking for bargains and I somehow wound up with a decent price on a 7900XTX, and a 9800X3D, so my computer is absolutely godlike now. I’ve mostly been playing bits and pieces of games that formerly ran like crap, as my PC now handles anything I throw at it with ease. Victoria 3, Oxygen Not Included, Frostpunk 2, and Starfield come to mind. They all run well now, and I struggled with them before.
Genre wise, I mostly play strategy games these days. But I keep meaning to brush the dust off my consoles and finally finish Tears of the Kingdom and the Ghost of Tsushima DLC. My console backlog is massive.
For 2025, I think I’m mostly looking forward to Switch 2 right now. I’m a Nintendo gal through and through. But I’m also stoked about Ghost of Yotei and The Alters.
Same with you on Nintendo. Honestly, the PS5 has some interesting titles coming up.
My PS5 has been accumulating a whole lot of dust. I use it to watch UHD Blu-Rays and that’s really about it. What games have your interest? Ghost of Yotei and the new Naughty Dog game are all I can think of right now.
Currently I’m playing Silent Hill 2 Remake (great game) and, surprisingly enough, Dynasty Warriors Origins (an ever funner and better game than the aforementioned horror title).
Those are the main two.
Oh yeah, and Elden Ring, but that’s on PC.
But so far, I’ve made good use of my PS5 with the first video games mentioned taking up my time.
I bought SH2, and played it for about an hour. The temporal ghosting drove me absolutely mad, was making me queasy, and I put it down, hoping that they would patch it at some point and fix their graphics. I’m not really holding my breath on that one. If it ever drops to like $10 on PC I might buy it there so I can turn off all of that crap.
Dynasty Warriors has never really been my cup of tea. I buy one every couple of generations, but I never get into it.
Yeah, Dynasty Warriors is a hard and niche series to get into, I grant you that.
