Dude’s dead. Reposting his hate amplifies his message and makes that matter less. We should collectively forget he ever existed, and it would still be too good for him, but it’s the least we can do.

I’m glad he is dead and ignoring his hate filled legacy is like pretending that Nazis didn’t exist.

He should be remembered as the hate filled shitstain he was so that we can learn from history.

There are plenty of hate-filled shitstains to fight. Why would we focus on one who isn’t here anymore? As to learning from history: we don’t, we won’t, we’ve proven it. And by “we” I mean “humans”.

And a good thing too, have you seen the size of his face? Couldn’t have hit that thing with a sniper rifle.

While I despise Kirk, he had some important things to say. One quote I’m particularly fond of is “Ohgh. Gurgle. Ahhhhhh”

Keeping his message alive seems pretty important for everyone who wants to handwave the type of person he was.

IDK, soon enough republicans will want to name schools and other shit after him. I think, for now at least, people need to be reminded who he was. He doesn’t deserve to rest in peace.

I’m guessing you’re joking, but he already has a highway name after him. And there’s like 20 schools name after that governor who opposed black people trying to enter Universities in the 60s lol. If you don’t think Americans are crazy enough to do so, you need a reality check.

Narrator: Kirk was later killed in a school shooting by a white Utah resident, Kirk had frequently called similar deaths “acceptable sacrifices” for his most valued beliefs.

lol, if only the government didn’t give them voting rights, it wouldn’t have had to flood the streets with harmful drugs and also make those drugs illegal. MLK should have thought about this before asking for basic human rights!

That’s a rhetorical game so he can disparage MLK’s ideas and then say, “I didn’t say I hate MLK.”

That’s not any different? When was the “deification” of MLK exactly? Is there a set year that happened we could look at to prove his shitty points? No, he’s just called it something vague so he can make shit up and no one can verify if he’s incorrect? Crazy.

Let me put my hazmat suit on and try to steel man Kirk’s comment. Can’t stress enough that this is not an endorsement of the guy.

Deification is a slow gradual process that happens in the culture so of course it can’t be pinpointed. The way people quote just the “I have a dream” stuff but not the criticisms of capitalism or other more “extreme” views of MLK sort of point to a legendary development where people don’t actually celebrate the real man. This is used by the ruling class (they likely helped it happen too) to prevent any meaningful change (especially considering what they did to MLK) and just apply a veneer of progress while still oppressing and sowing division in the population.

Yea like I understand if he was actually talking about those things… but I am going to guess that’s not his even close to his actual point. It’s just a way of clouding what he is saying.

Maybe in this instance but don’t get confused, Kirk has said many times MLK is a bad person and what he did was terrible. There’s tons more if you just go looking but just for starters he said:

“MLK was awful. OK? He’s not a good person. He said one good thing he actually didn’t believe. Go research MLK, you should go research him.”

When asked if it was true that when he was younger, he used to describe MLK as a hero and a civil rights icon, he responded simply:

“That’s true, and I used to be wrong.”

Regarding the Civil Rights Act that MLK famously pushed so hard for:

“We made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the mid-1960s.”

Again this is just a bit. Go digging and you’ll find much much more.
