He’s a relative of the Allende family. He spent his childhood as a refugee after the US installed Pinochet and his family had to flee Chile. Idk why his anti imperialism would shock anyone.

An actor single handedly keeping a good 40% of the LGBTQ community off the ledge right now. Also he played The Mandalorian, and is a very vocal supporter of queer / trans rights (his sister is trans)

Pascal is loved and will not tolerate people talking shit about his trans sister.

Rowling at this point subsists on a half assed crumbling potter legacy she’s using to fund transphobia. She went after tennant and since that backfired bigtime her calvary of fuckos are now trying Pascal. It will end just as badly and they will never learn

Some people also don’t like it when someone is “overexposed” and in everything. They liked it when he was on the rise, in Game of Thrones and then he broke out with Mandalorian. People were happy because he played the role keeping the helmet on 99% of the season…especially flying in the face of the Halo series a while later.

But because he was now “popular” and appearing in more films and shows, this is bad now.

For some anyway. Not me. I love him still.

I personally don’t get it. He’s successful. It wasn’t handed to him like some nepo baby. He worked hard and did great jobs to achieve where he’s at.

I honestly don’t get it. You can have someone like Taylor Swift who releases an album every couple weeks and if you speak ill of her then you’ve essentially become Satan. So it’s ok for one person to be constantly in the publics face but it’s not ok for another person?

I didn’t think this was true until I encountered this from my sister-in-law. I just mentioned that I didn’t care for her music and suddenly I became a misogynist because there’s no other possible reason for not liking the output of the greatest singer and songwriter in human history. I countered with a very long list of women artists whose music I did like and she said those women all make masculine music. I was like “Kate Bush and Tori Amos make masculine music?”

Pedro Pascal’s sister is a trans woman. He has been publicly very vocal on the subject of trans rights and inclusion. Consequently, a lot of transphobes, chuds, and miscellaneous fascists have been targeting him for a while and trying to smear his reputation any way they can. I don’t really pay much attention to celebrity stuff so I don’t know to what extent JK Rowling is personally involved in that, but given that she has been a very outspoken anti-trans bigot for some time, I would not be surprised to learn she was egging her followers on to that end.

Heaven forbid someone even suggests JK isn’t an advertiser freindly content creator over her hate speech. Expect the full Karen free speech rant.

Pascal supports his family member, and these troglodytes make it their mission to prevent him from making a living.

I have a rule of thumb in life. If it reminds me of Nazi rhetoric, I stay far away. It is rarely applicable but crucial when it is. I forget sometimes that there are people that not only dont think the same as me, they actually think the opposite.

TERFs will just make shit up. It’s absolutely unhinged. Rowling also has them denying that Nazis killed trans people - they’ve started to claim that the Nazis issued “transvestite passes” (which the Weimar Republic did - famously not the Nazi government) based on a book of photographs someone published of Nazi soldiers doing drag.

The Nazis tortured and murdered trans people. Some did drag because they thought it was funny, heck the US military did official drag shows during WW2. People do drag because it’s funny, that doesn’t mean they accept trans people. It’s unhinged how willing people are to lie and spread the lies of others in order to justify their hate.

how willing people are to lie and spread the lies of others in order to justify their hate.

It’s simply the required narrative not to call themselves monsters. The bigger the horror, the bigger the lie.

It’s a performance art, and like any other form of performance it can be used to be shitty, but it’s not inherently mocking of women or trans people. Some of the stuff I’ve seen on RuPaul has made me cringe, but I’ve also seen queens that dress up like church marms and do a Betty Bowers/old school Colbert skewering of the Christian right.

Since it’s beyond you, I’ll take the time to explain. Different people have different values. Some people think it’s interesting to pay attention to the intersection of culture and politics… so they take their energy that isn’t devoted to the necessary tasks of staying alive and devote some of it to following this.

Some people take that energy and participate in online communities. Instead of devoting that energy to that intersection, they post and comment. Its their energy and their value system.

Some people aren’t interested in either. I hope this simple answer has bought it into your range of understanding.

They’ve been accusing him of being too grabby with his women co-stars (no evidence of this, and the co-stars in question say he isn’t) and whining that he’s just in too many movies/shows these days (no more than other prolific actors). Smells like astroturfing and surprise, it is.

Weird, I haven’t heard anyone say they hated Coldplay for this. In fact, I’d say that Coldplay is one of those bands that is regularly hated on, well before any of the cheating CEO and now, if anything, Coldplay is more liked, even if indirectly just because the situation was funny and meme’d so much.

As far as I can tell, Coldplay only have the one song, that they take apart and reassemble in different configurations. They are the musical equivalent of beige, and appeal solidly to the middle-classes. Hating Coldplay has been the thing to do for decades. It’s music for people who know nothing about music.

That’s odd that you’d describe them as Nickelback or worse, modern country music, when part of why they’ve gained and lost fans over the years is because their albums tended to have different sounds to them.
