Consequently, a lot of transphobes, chuds, and miscellaneous fascists have been targeting him for a while and trying to smear his reputation any way they can. I don’t really pay much attention to celebrity stuff so I don’t know to what extent JK Rowling is personally involved in that, but given that she has been a very outspoken anti-trans bigot for some time, I would not be surprised to learn she was egging her followers on to that end.

It’s a performance art, and like any other form of performance it can be used to be shitty, but it’s not inherently mocking of women or trans people. Some of the stuff I’ve seen on RuPaul has made me cringe, but I’ve also seen queens that dress up like church marms and do a Betty Bowers/old school Colbert skewering of the Christian right.

Some people think it’s interesting to pay attention to the intersection of culture and politics… so they take their energy that isn’t devoted to the necessary tasks of staying alive and devote some of it to following this.
Some people take that energy and participate in online communities. Instead of devoting that energy to that intersection, they post and comment. Its their energy and their value system.

As far as I can tell, Coldplay only have the one song, that they take apart and reassemble in different configurations. They are the musical equivalent of beige, and appeal solidly to the middle-classes. Hating Coldplay has been the thing to do for decades. It’s music for people who know nothing about music.
